Sainte-Agathe, January 30, 2003 - The city that saw the birth of the first snowmobile club in the world, now plays host to the official launch of Club Product Motoneige. This is a joint effort between local operators / entrepreneurs and the Canadian Tourist Commission, to unveil an action plan whose objectives are to standardize and revitalize the snowmobile tourist industry. The arrival of Go Snowmobile Canada offers an opportunity to develop the snowmobile product as a core ingredient of the overall economic development of not only the local region, but provincially and even nationally across Canada.
Director Jean Duchaine notes that up until the arrival of this organization, the loose arrangement existing between the support industries surrounding the sport of snowmobiling have sometimes led to uneven standards and quality received by the tourist consumer. From local government to snowmobile clubs to hotels, restaurants and rental operators have operated independly in an informal association with each other.
Since it is obvious that snowmobiling contributes an extraordinary amount of tourist dollars to our economies, both local and national, it was a natural development that the industry organize itself to assure exceptional quality and high standards for it's clientele. To this end the club has engaged members and partners who are leaders in the industry to provide the example of the standards our international market is in search of. Members will also profit from the wealth of resources available to them such as help with business administration, marketing, and employee training programs as well as information seminars and a united presence on the international scene to represent this product.
An expanding network of members is essential to the success of the Club, as it is by associating these members together that we can collectively work to improve and uniform the quality of the snowmobile experience, Says Jean Duchaine, director, "We will assume the role of an international ambassador, and seek therefore to recruit as many new members to the Club, starting with, but not exclusive to the Laurentian region.
Part of our objective is to increase the accessibility to new and innovative potential partners. New snowmobile partners may offer such activities as gastronomical, cultural or folkloric packages. Funding, though supplemented by the Canadian Tourist Commission, "Will be augmented by our membership growth by adding these and other a-typical partners with the objective of being financially independent by 2005.
Motoneige Canada has not wasted time. In March of 2003 the official Web site was launched with the address www.motoneigecanada.com. It was a joint effort in collaboration with the Economic Development Office of Canada, and offers both a viewing platform for the researching potential tourist, and of course a method of instant communication between members and partners.
